What Is Not Natural/Natural?

In the context of training methods, the distinction between being natural and not natural refers to whether or not the training method was designed for someone who is either taking or not taking performance-enhancing drugs. 'Natural' refers to the training program being designed for drug-free users whilst 'Not Natural' refers to the training program being designed for users taking performance-enhancing drugs. 

What Is Progressive Overload?

Progressive overload can be defined as ‘a type of strength training that involves gradually increasing the intensity or difficulty of workouts over time’,(Zia Sherrel, MPH, 2022).

What Is Training To Failure?

Training to failure can be defined as ‘the moment when no additional repetitions can be achieved’ in that muscle, (P. Debraux, 2021).

What Is Muscular Hypertrophy?

Muscular hypertrophy can be defined as a growth in muscle mass due to resistance training, (Aaron Kandola, 2020).

What Is Volume?

Volume, in regard to weight training, can be defined as the total amount of tasks you engage in, (Paul Rogers, 2021). This can be measured in the amount of repetitions you do on a certain exercise or even the amount of sets you do on a certain exercise, (Paul Rogers, 2021).

What Is A Calorie Maintenance/Surplus/Deficit

Your calorie maintenance refers to the amount of calories your body to support the energy it burns during the day, (Gavin Van De Walle, MS, RD, 2019). Going above this maintenance causes you to gain excess energy (Weight) and going below causes you to lose energy (Weight).

What Are Compound Lifts/Movements?

Compound movements/lifts are movements that involve more than one muscle group at a time, (Colombia Association, 2022)
